Tracey Corderoy Author Visit
We place a high value on reading in school and fostering a love of reading is really important to us. We welcomed Tracey Corderoy into school as part of the Northern Children’s Book Festival and she spent time with each year group talking about her job as an author and what that involves, how she writes her books as well as some illustration work too. It was a fantastic experience for all of the children.
Katie’s Garden craft event
As part of our efforts to work with our Community, we held a Christmas craft event with Katie’s Garden for our families. It was a lovely night, with crafts all geared around Christmas Eve – pulling a carrot for Rudolf, decorating a cookie for Santa and making some Reindeer dust! Thank you to all parents/carers who attended the event!
Christmas Care Home Visit
We were very lucky to fit in a visit to Bryony Park just before Christmas. We took some decorations from our Kindness Club with us to hang on their Christmas Tree. They made us feel very welcome and we had lots of colouring in activities to do. Rhys helped us with a Christmas sing a long and we even had a drink and a snack. It was lovely to spend time with our care home friends and spread a little bit of Christmas kindness!
Sports Day 2019!
We were lucky that the sun shined and it stayed fine all day for our annual sports day this year. We also had our Dance showcase at the end. Thank you to all parents/carers who attended – it was a lovely afternoon!
Celebration with SAFC
We have been lucky to have worked with Jack from SAFC across the year. He has worked with each class and has even worked with children at lunchtimes and after school. He selected a child from each class to receive a thank you card for all of their effort across the year.
Visit to Bryony Park Care Home
We enjoyed visiting the residents we have been writing to from Bryony Park Care home. The children shared stories, painted, coloured and chatted to the residents. We had a lovely morning together and are looking forward to our next visit.
Bryony Park Care Home Visit
We really enjoyed meeting the residents from Bryony Park care home. Each class have their own new friend who they will write to and work with. The residents were thrilled with the cards we had made to welcome them to our school. The children enjoyed talking to their new friends and showed them some work they were proud of. It was a lovely afternoon and we can’t wait to continue our work together.
Kidsafe Parents Meeting
A Panto New Year Treat!
Chaplins Pantomime joined us on Tuesday 8th January for a wonderful production of Cinderella!
The children really enjoyed the experience of a pantomime (oh yes the did!) and had lots to share afterwards about how much they enjoyed it.
Thank you to the PTA whose funds into the school allowed us to have this experience.
Nursery Rhyme Nativity
We are all so proud of the children in Reception and Year 1. They have all worked so hard and their performance of ‘Nursery Rhyme Nativity’ was fantastic.
Our Annual Toy Service 2018
Our festivities truly began when we had our Toy Service on 3rd December. Led by our Year 2’s we performed the Nativity Story, but also discussed the meaning of Christmas. Each child brought a toy that was displayed in our church. These were collected by Major Amanda from The Salvation Army who will make sure they are distributed to families in our community.
Remembering Remembrance Day 2018
In school we have been discussing the relevance of wearing poppies and our school council members have been selling poppies across the week. On Friday 9th November we held a 1 minute silence with the whole school. Our entrance ways have become a sea of poppies that the children have created and look absolutely beautiful. This is a direct link to British Values which is an important part of our curriculum discussed through our assemblies and PHSCE work.
Over the last 2 weeks we have seen our playground developed with the addition of some wonderful new equipment.
This will enable our children to be as active as possible across lunchtimes but also contributing to the children’s creativity, speech and language development and social skills. We love it!
Macmillan Coffee Morning 2018
Thank you to everyone who attended our Macmillan Coffee Morning. We raised £145.20 all of which will benefit this fantastic cause.
Race for Life 2018
Each year we complete the Race for Life with a run around the junior school field (thank you Mr Shenton!)Parents and carers are always so kind with donations towards this cause that affects so many. Well done children (and staff!)
